Gas and Oil Home Heating Furnaces - baseboard heating alternatives

I have a small house (860 square feet) with electric baseboard heating. As you can imagine, I am looking for a more energy efficient alternative. Natural Gas is not available, and I would like to avoid propane due to the small size of the lot. I live in Seattle, where the climate is fairly temperate. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you don't want to use propane, your stuck with electic, whether it's baseboard or heat pump. And the way things are out there on the west coast, good luck.
