I have qood kitchen cabinets that are in good shape except for the corner of the door of the most used cabinet. Use has worn away the protective finish and after Murphy soaping all the cabinets, all the grime is off that corner and I am now down to bare "white" wood. What is yhe best thing I can use to touch-up that corner before waxing? Is there anything better than a good furniture wax to protect kitchen cabinets?

John:

While a good paste waxing makes furniture easier to keep clean it doesn't offer much in the way of protection. It should, however, be an adequate and easy solution for your problem.

More durable protection would be obtained by applying a coat of lacquer to the entire door (eliminating blending marks between new and old finish) and then a coat of wax. If you want to go this way, I suggest Deft - it's a good product, widely available, and has a superior spray systen (nozzle) that allows for good control.
