I have a 17yr old Comfortmaker Heat Pump. Recently I have noticed that the blower motor in my airhandler runs all night long. If I set thermostate to 67 degrees and below blower will cycle normally. However, and setting above 67 it runs all night. In fact, I set thermostate to 70 and unit with outside pump was running normal and while sitting at computer I smelled the AUX HEAT come on and when light went out blower continued running. Now the outside temp at night is running 16-26 degrees here in MD. but during the day35-40 degrees. Any suggestions??

As long as outdoor unit is running indoor blower will run. Please check filter. With AUX HEAT cycling on it means HP cannot keep up.You can either pay for a service call or check weather service to see how much below normal your day and night temps have been.Check outdoor unit,if it is not icing up and AUX HEAT is cycling on,it seems system operation is okay.PDF.I worked in BALTIMORE for about 5 years.SUPERBOWL......N.Y GIANTS 24 RAVENS 17.....PDF EDITED....A quick rule of thumb,,,pick up a thermometer, start HP,take a temp reading at return air, allow thermometer to settle out for 10 minutes, with HP still running, take reading at a supply diffuser allow 10 minutes for thermometer to settle out.OKAY/let's say return temp is 60 and supply temp is around 80.Thats good for a HP.When conducting this test make sure AUX HEAT is NOT ON.PDF
