The door latch does not work and as a result the self-cleaning feature is inoperable. In an attempt to repair it, we removed the door and cannot get it back into place. How can we remount the door and fix the latch so we can use the oven? Of course, we have a house full of company! Please help. Thank you.

Hi:sunbird

Oven doors either lift upwards and off the spring loaded brackets or lift up to the brackets and have locking clamps to secure them to the bracket levers.

If the bracket levers are close to the oven frame, they will have to be pulled outwards part way. They should then remain in this position. Lower the door onto them evenly. Done correctly, the door will lower down on to the levers and lock in place.

If yours are the doors with locking clamps <levers> ON the doors, put the door slots up to the spring levers protruding from the oven, line them up evenly and close the locking levers.

fixing the locking device inside the oven frame requires you remove the oven front which will take more time. Once inside there, you'll need to determine what can be done. A simple release of the locking device or parts replacement.
