I hear the best kind of soffit vents are continuous. Not only will this help the attic get some fresh air, but will also help prevent Ice Dams. Any thing I should be aware of before I convert. It's an 1800 sq ft tri-level 30 yrs old (roof is 6 yrs old - no ridge vent), outside Chicago.

Also, is this something I can do myself? I've called one siding place for a quote, but he said the job was too small.

Thanks!
