Here a pic of my plenum on my natual gas/central air furnace. One pic is just a zoom of the other pic. What is causing the corrosion line of crust running along the bottom of the plenum?

My a/c condensate drain hole is a inch higher than this white line, so I'm confused as to how it could be the watertray level.

And where is the Sears model number on this furnace? I have looked outside and inside front panels. I want to order a new flue dampner.

what it looks like to me is where water has formed on the metal there.... maybe condensate

Mark,

Can you tell us how you got the picture there? Did you have to post it somewhere on the internet first, or could you import from your hard drive?

Thanks for any tip,

Rick

Its from my hard drive, uploaded to my ISP, then the URL was referenced. Right mouse click the pic, then PROPERTIES and it will make more sense.

The air in that area has hit its dew point. What you see is a natural reaction between the metal and moisture around it.PDF

Hi PDF,

Thanks for the reply. It is beginning to sound like I don't have a plugged, flooding condensate. I will take tackle it latter when I have time. Important thing is that I know it is there, and likely causes.

Mark, try looking for the model/serial numbers on the furnace cabinet. They are probably on the inside right or left side of the cabinet itself. They aren't usually on the front panels, that would make it too obvious when looking for them. The numbers will be printed on the "data" plate of the furnace.

Okey dokey, I will search some more for the plate.
Thanks.
