I am having a problem with my furnace blower. It will turn on when the switch is in the on position but it won't work on auto. It did start to work on auto but was turning slowly. We had it turned to on and the heat on and it was blowing warm air for a while but then started blowing cool air. The blower will work on auto when it is turned to a/c.

Type of furnace and age? Your problem seems to lie in the heating fan circuit. Fan/limit switch(mechanical-older furnaces) or electronic(timed on through a control board)

I would suggest you call in an hvac tech. You have something wrong with the heating circuit.

The "ON" position & the "cool" will both usually be wired to run the indoor blower on high speed, while medium or low blower speed is usually used for the heating mode. This lower speed is usually controlled through a heat activated switch, so if during fan "on" and during "cool" the indoor fan is operating properly, but in the heating mode there are problems, they can often be traced either to thermal fan switch problems or low/medium fan speed problems. Take care.
