We recently bought a money pit LOL
It is a contemporary one of a kind home built 23 years ago by a very creative self-contractor from what we perceive. Anyway, it has a small contained dirtfloor crawlspace under the house (yet accessable from the ground floor/garage). Well, the room above it, we noticed has very cold floors (we live in Maine) and would like to insulate better. The walls are insulated with the pink foam (I can't remember what R factor), but we would like to insulate the ceiling of the crawlspace. The crawlspace houses nothing but our well pump and radon mitigation system. So it needs access at times.
Questions:
What grade and recommendation of insulation to use?
What should we use as a vapor barrier and where/how do we install it?
Should we put a dehumidifier in the crawlspace first to draw out as much moisture before starting the insulation and vapor barrier installation?
