Hello all. We have a run down stone farmhouse with a dug out cellar and I was wondering about insulating the floor of the rooms above.
I figure poly sheeting on the floors and running up the walls of the cellar for waterproofing (it's very damp). But what should I do between the joists? First of all they are unevenly spaced, from 16" apart to about 28" apart, which seems like it will make for problems in sunning bats. Second, I guess the vapor barrier goes against the underside of the floor, but then I figure it will get soaked from the dampness below. I would appreciate any thoughts anyone has. FYI - the cellar has the plumbing and electric running thru it, and I have electric heat and am in the Virginia mountains.
thanks - george
