I have a client that has water stains or mineral deposits around the faucet. The counter top is granite and I am not sure what she should use to remove the spots. I don't want her to damage the granite counter top. Does anyone have a solution?

I am assuming that you mean the white, flaky-looking residue that forms when "hard" water deposits minerals on the surface. Vinegar can be very effective at removing these deposits without being too harsh (white household vinegar is mostly mild acetic acid). You can just wipe the stains with a very damp sponge - let the spot stay wet for a few minutes if necessary to dissolve the deposits. As always, test the vinegar on an unseen spot to be sure it doesn't have any untoward effects. I can't imagine that much will damage granite, but better safe than sorry. It may take a couple or three applications to completely remove the deposits.

Good luck!
