i am ready to install a new basement bathroom, i have a small amount of knowledge about what i am doing. My question is what pipe do i tap into for my waste. is it the pipe that is coming down from upstairs and is running toward a floor drain? please help quickly i have a sladge and am ready. ace

You need to tie it into the 3" or 4" mainline of the house. I doubt that "the pipe that is coming down from upstairs" would be a good choice if it is tied to the floor drain. And have you figured out how you are going to vent it yet? It won't work if you don't! I would suggest calling a pro or two and getting a few bids on having it done for you. There could easily be many things involved that you haven't told us, simply because you aren't aware of them, yet!
