Anyone know how to keep pets from doing their business in my flower beds?

Are the pets yours or your neighbors? If they are the neighbors, hot pepper powder or spray works pretty good. It's kept the raccoons out of my corn for the past couple of years. I spray a concentrated dose on the ground and on the plants I'm protecting. Be very careful to have the wind at your back or you'll end up with eyes and nose full. If they are your pets, then some form of barrier, anywhere from fancy garden fencing to chicken wire to protect your beds or vegetable garden. For a cheap method of making hot pepper spray, grow some habenero or Thai Hot, put in a blender, grind up and soak in a big jar outside, just as if you were making sun tea. Strain in cheesecloth into a sprayer. This can also be used on sunflower seeds to keep the squirrels out of it. The heat doesn't bother the birds.
