We are renovating our bathroom and would like to install a tile countertop. It is the installation we need more information about. How do we mount the plywood onto the base? Do we have to screw the plywood into the front face of the cabinet? How can we finish the edge without using a bullnose?

Any tips on installtion of the tile countertop would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Roger,
You should mount the plywood to the base like any other countertop; From the inside of the vanity up into the plywood (don't forget no screws prodruding through your countertop) Then attatch a piece of 1/4" backer board to the plywood (Hardibacker, etc. as per their directions). You should not have to screw anything to the face of the cabinet at all. As for no bullnose, I would recommend that you find a nice piece of oak (or any other HARDWOOD about 1 1/4" to 2") and match it to your vanity, with stain if needed, give it lots of coats of good polyurethane and trim it with that. You could actually "cork mitre" the tile and do it like that but, its kind of hard to do and is best left to a pro(no offense intended)
