We are general contracting our new home. During this process, we have decided to use Brazilian Cherry wood flooring throughout the 1st floor. In our kitchen, we have decided to use Birch cabinets, stained to the color/tone of the Brazilian Cherry. At this time, we are having a difficult time deciding on what type of wood to use for our base, caseing and doors. Due to our budget, we cannot use cherry as one of our options. Although we've seen alot of model homes now using the painted trim, etc., we prefer the look of a wood stain. Please let us know your thoughts on this, we would greatly appreciate your advice!

Your new home sounds beautiful. I'm not an expert or any thing but I would think you could purchase a less expensive type of wood and stain it the cherry color you like. I have also seen on different decorating shows that the trick to combining wood types is to keep with the same tone of the wood, warm tones or cool tones. You could also go to your local home store and get some scaps of different types of wood and compare them to your cabinets and floor to see what pleases you and your mate.Hope this helps, Good Luck!
