I am being asked to finish off an upstairs area of an old building. The rafters are 2" x 4" but they do look to be 16" on center.
They have requested a drywall finish but I'm sure that I shouldn't just lay up insulation and drywall to the rafters. There will be no air space.
The side walls or knee walls are no problem. I know how to insulate that area but the ceiling is another story. If I drop the ceiling I will loose valuable head room plus I'm not sure the best way to do that. Are there codes for air space or is the risk just that of the home owner?
The roof looks to be about an 8/12 pitch. Cutting in roof vents or a ridge vent doesn't seem right either! Air space won't travel between the rafters.
Looking for help on ideas.
Thanks.
