We are changing the location of a shower & decided to go with a custom tile shower(no fiberglass). I need some more info on constructing the mortar-bed shower floor as well as more info on what to use as pan material(metal, CPE, etc.)

Hi Sally,
Below is a link to an article on exactly (step by step) how to construct a shower pan. It is by Michael Byrne. I think he use's a product called Nobleseal which is ok for a shower pan (If they still produce it?) I personally use 40mil P.V.C. made by Oatey or Pasco. I would try to avoid using a metal pan they are fairly hard to work with and I think PVC will last just as long if properly installed.

Good Luck,
