MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE RECIEVED A LARGE SET OF KITCHEN CABBINETS THAT ARE IN NEED OF REFINISHING. THEY ARE OF AN OAK VENEER (SP?). A COLOR OF PAPER THAT CAN AND IS PEALING OFF. IS IT POSSIBLE TO SAND,PRIMER, AND REPAINT THESE CABBINETS? OR DO WE NEED TO TRY TO PULL ALL THE PAPER TOPPING OFF ? PLEASE ADVISE. THANK-YOU VERY MUCH

Nancy:

From your description I believe you have what is called a 'print' finish - a wood grain pattern (in this case oak) printed on paper and glued to the cabinets. You can not paint over this - it must be removed.

True veneer (your spelling was correct) is a very thin sheet of actual wood - but much thicker than paper. The thickness is more on the order of the cardboad in a shoe box.
