We've purchased a spec home with hardwood floors which aren't yet finished. We also own a 90 lb. yellow lab. Are there any precautions we can take now to protect the floor? The floor will be professionally finished.

Make the dog wear socks! LOL
How about rolling out some carpet padding? They have cardboard in rolls also, just for that purpose.

We are renovating a house and have 3 active dogs. Our oak floors have been laid but are not yet finished. We have craft paper (heavy butcher paper) laid over all the floor to protect them until they are finished.
It's important to keep your dog's nails trimmed short and blunt once you move in---keeps his nails from scratching into the urethane finish. This has worked well for us for years!

Three active dogs on hardwoods? are you people nuts? Have you ever heard of carpet of tile? I hope these are atleast small dogs--oops--A Lab--I guess not! Just kidding I had to say something--after the time and $ I have in my H-woods I only walk on them in socks--no dogs allowed!
