I have an older house with post and beam floor. 4' span betwixt beams. I found a rather inexpensive source of sheet insulation... 4'x8' that is. The big question is should I span and attach by screws across the beams (perpendicular that is to beams) or insert(wedge) in between the beams.
Going over(under I guess really) beams would leave the whatever(8" floor joists I think) of air space. Would that be a good thing or a bad thing? Whew is that enuff info for ya carpenter?
Course the longer before ya reply the longer before I have to start this :)

You would be better server using fiberglass batts. Attach them with insulation ties that will span between the 4X6's. Unfaced R-19 will work just fine.

Yes but you must realize $3 a sheet is in my book cheap.
I also felt that the 4' span would be an emotional challenge to get fiberglass to stay put for any long duration. My other house with 12" OC trujoists had the silly batts falling down. I just figured that 4' would be 4 times the hassle. Here in Orygun not a big heating problem but just a lil help in the back rooms for comfort.
