My housemate decided to superglue the lights on to a ceramic Christmas tree. Of course he did it on the dining room table and spilled it. I'm sure that the surface of the table is laminated. Any suggestions?

If you mean Formica, Micarta or another man made piece of sheet goods typically found on kitchen counter tops you can remove the glue without harm. If by laminate you mean wood veneer, the finish will be removed also - here's how.

Using strong thread, take a 1/2" ball of 000 steel wool and tie it around a Q-tip. Dip this in acetone and scrub the superglue. It's time consuming and slow, but it does work. Before you begin with the acetone, take a single edge razor blade and try to cut the gluedown as close as you can to the top.
