I live in the midwest and would like to know if it is OK to store garden hoses outdoors, during the winter, as long as they are drained.

It all depends if you get frost in your area. Rubber doesn't fair well at sub zero temperatures over time. It will shorten the life of your hose. That said I have stored hoses out side on a wall attached hose reel for several years and it's not been a problem and I live in the UK!!

Make sure your hose is not attached to the faucet outside if you keep it there. This will cause the faucet to burst if it gets below freezing at night.
