We have a beautiful home, but a very annoying problem with squeeky floors. There is no direct access to the structure as the ceiling below is finished and all the floors on the level above is carpeted.
Can anyone provide me iwth information on how to fix these floors so they will once again be quiet?
Thanks,
Al and Rosey

Visit Home Depot. Ask for screws designed to be driven through carpet. These are screws with break-off heads. They are usually sold with a little gizmo to drive them in without wrapping the carpet fibers around the screw.

The sqeak tool for carpet works only ¼ of the time. It doesn't suck the subfloor down on the joists. Like a screw with a head.

I do a lot of floor sqeak repairs for new home builders wher I pull and cut doorway carpet open, to gain full access to the subfloor. If the guy that's cutting seams open knows what they are doing it will go back like it was never opened up before, sometimes better then before. But sometimes you get the "HACK" that takes no pride in his work and is there for the cash thus buthchering your carpet.

Some floor squeaks that are next to walls. Come from the nails in the floorplate of the wall being nailed in between floor joist, and the actual nail is sqeaking thru the subfloor as the subfloor sags when you step there.

If your house was built with floor trusses and not solid wood. You will never get some sqeaks within the truss, unless you cut the subfloor out to get in to them.
