I have a brand new oak table on which I left
a floral arrangement. Two days later I found
the water underneath the arrangement and the
damage to the finish. The wood appears to
ok but the clear finish isn't clear anymore.
Is there any way (short of sanding and refinished
the whole table) to get the clear to go from
the milky white it is now back to clear??

There aretwo easy methods - I'll give them in order of trial, easiest first.

Cover the area with mayonaise (yes, salad dressing will work). Leave over night. Clean the area the next day with warm dish suds and wipe dry.

If that doesn't work, make a paste of baking soda and water. Rub the affected area until the white is gone. Restore the sheen with Turtle Wax Polishing Compound and Scratch Remover. Go over the entire top with the Turtle Waxfor uniformity.
