I want to refinish my parquet floor in my living room. The majority of the floor is covered by an area rug. I do have two small water spots. I bought the Flecto Renewal kit by Varathane which does not require sanding.

My questions is : can I sand out just the water spots and still use the Renewal Refinishing Kit. Can I just stain the spots and use the Renewal kit. Or should I sand the whole floor and polyurethane?
