My daughter's room is on the second story of an old apartment building with steam radiator heat. The radiator in her room gets hot only at the very bottom of the radiator. The radiators in the other rooms on the second story get hot evenly. Her room is freezing and I think we're in for a long, cold winter here in the South. Help!

what type of steam system? is there 1 pipe going to the radiator? or is there 2 pipes one in and one out? depending on the type of system,if it is a one pipe system the radiator must be sloped slightly towards the end where the pipe comes in...it also should have a steam vent..a small silver thing on the opposite end of the rad,,when thee boiler fires the vent should allow air to escape and fill the rad with steam.also on this type of system the run time of the boiler is somewhat critical in that is runs long enough to build up pressure to reach all rads..if it is a 2 pipe system the pipe that leaves the rad should have a small round looking fitting next to the radiator..a steam trap...this trap could be bad...not letting the rad release the condensate back to the boiler..this type of system might have a steam vent also to let air out..these can be replased easily..there could be a blockage in the rad ...need more info on type of system...pressure at boiler etc

Did you vent the air out of the radiator?
