Hello. I have a new home with a Janitrol heat pump system. I'm considering bidding on a new Carrier programmable h.p. tstat that's being auctioned online. Carrier's web site shows this one as their h.p. model. Would this one be compatable with my system? What's the difference between single and multi stage? Any tips? Thanks!

It'll work and it should be a multistage. But you could probably get a honeywell at home depot cheaper. Carrier hp stats are made by honeywell.

We get alot of help threads on the forum because of tstat change outs.MAKE SURE you code, mark or MAKE SURE you know by color where each wire belongs.A lot of calls go like this "Replaced tstat, have extra wires left over, now this doesn't or that doesn't work."Most HP tstat wire is 18/8 and each wire is color coded for ease of wiring.HOWEVER for some strange or unproffessional reason some installers run 3 sets of 18/3 wires. That means you will have 3 whites,3 reds and 3 greens.IF THIS IS the case label where each wire goes before removing them.PDF
