I have an oil heater/boiler and the vent that comes out of the top of the heater is about 4 1/2 ft off the floor. This vent gets very hot while the heater is running and the other day somone placed their gloves next to it and it melted them. Can i place sometype of covering over the vent stack to prevent this from happening again.

Change the vent from single wall to double wall B-vent.
