I painted my kitchen cabinets about 10 days ago with a satin-finish latex paint. Prior to painting I sanded, cleaned and primed with a latex primer.
Although the guy at the paint store told me I could use a satin finish in the kitchen, when I wiped the the cabinet with a wet rag the paint changed color temporarily and some pigment came off on my rag.
I've been told I can "cure" the paint by wiping over it with a vinegar and water solution or by waxing the cabinets. But how much vinegar and water and what kind of wax? Is any of this worth a try? Or is a satin finish just too delicate for kitchen cabinets?
Thanks, and yes that's my real name.

Most latex flat, eggshell, satin will change colors slightly and temporarily (some more than others) when dampened as will some latex semigloss.
Did you scrub it at all when it left pigment on the rag? Latex will do that if scrubbed, but it shouldn't with simple wiping. I would wait a couple weeks before doing any heavy cleaning and see how it does and even then being careful not to scrub the paint off.
A low sheen oil based paint would have been the more durable choice, but since it is already painted with latex I would recomend waiting and see if it cures out more durable, at 10 days it is still a "new" paint job. I have never wiped paint with vinager to cure it or waxed it so I cannot recomend it.
