The walls in the older section of the house are beaver board which looks just like thick cardboard. I would like to know if I can repair the holes in this board the same way I would gyp rock or do I have to replace the beaver board. Thank You. Pat

Beaver board is another name for rock lath. At least it was around here. If it looks like cardboard, I doubt it's beaver board. Should look similar to small sheets of drywall. Rock lath came in sheets anywhere from 16 to 24" wide and 4 to 6 feet long.
Anyway, patch it like drywall, although the plaster may need different treatments. Don C.
