I am planning to build a glass block wall for the shower. The glass block wall will intersect with a framed wall, which will be tiled. My question: Should I erect the glass block wall first then tile up to the glass, or should I tile first and have the glass block mortared directly to the tile. I'm unsure which method will be more waterproof or look best. Thanks. JC

You put the glass block wall up first. Make sure you attach the glass block frame work to a stud, or you wall may tilt or fall over.

Thanks for the response, Jack. Let me try to get it straight.....erect glass block wall, then greenboard, then cement backerboard, then tile up to the block?

You almost have it. Put up concrete board inside the shower, and to the outer edge of your glass wall. Use green board outside of the shower. Then put up the glass wall frame, then put up tile. Make sure you use tub sealer along the side of the glass wall frame. On the concrete board, one nail every 6".
