I want to put walls up in my basement. I have a poured basement and no leaks or cracks in the walls. What should I use as a vapor barrier? I've heard of people hanging heavy plastic sheeting before putting up the wall studs. Would this be sufficient?

Yes, this is exactly what you do. Best way to attach it is with duct tape.
