I want to network my home & share 3 computers, 3 Televisions, & a DVD player using wall jacks in several rooms. The computers are currently networked using an ethernet hub, CAT 5 cabling, & RJ-45 connectors & Wall plates so I'm not worried about them(the computers are on 2 different floors & the wires are routed behind the walls between the floors.) What I want to do is to be able to share other devices such as a DVD player, TV, or stereo. (For instance, I want to be able to use the DVD player that is located in my Den & have the option of watching it in my Master bedroom, or any other room for that matter). I'm sure there are devices out there that would allow me to do this. Who makes them, & are they reasonably priced? I'm sure the wiring is no big deal, I can run more CAT5 & CATV cabling to the existing rooms & wallplates, but I'm not sure about a device that could manage them....Any ideas? Thanks.....!

The only thing that comes to my mind is an A/B/BOTH style switch usually used on a dual printer set up. If you are using a servor to serve seveal slave units then you should be able to connect the perifials or buddy devices to the main server and give authorization through that main servor. It does sound like you are just usin a computer to computer connection using net meeting. If this is the case the only hope I can think of is the A/B/BOTH switch usually used by dual printers.
Hope this spurs some thought for you
Good Luck

Do you have a Radio Shack near you? I practically have their catalog memorized! If so you might want to check with them. They have been very helpful to me and I do know that they have several devices available to group and distribute audio/video connections. One for instance is a component that is intended specifically to distribute A/V signals from several sources to multiple rooms. Might be worth looking into anyway. Another possibility is perhaps a wireless A/V transmitter....wouldnt have to run all the wires that way and it may work out cheaper.
Best of luck.

Try going to Smarthome.com or getting their catalog. All possible methods of transmitting signal(IR, ultrasound, CAT5) and controlling options are available. There is also a lot of information in the form of instruction sheets as PDR files. Good luck
