The rear-view mirror on my Dodge Caravan is mounted to the windshield by a special glue. The mount sometimes comes unglued after much time in the summer heat. This happened recently, and when I glued the mount back in place, I accidentally glued it in the wrong position. I would like to remove it so as to glue it correctly, but I cannot remove it from the windshield. Can anybody help?

YOU SHOULD CONSIDER HAVING AN AUTO GLASS SHOP DO IT FOR YOU. ITS NOT EXSPENSIVE,BUT IF YOU BREAK YOUR WINDSHIELD IT WILL COST YOU SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO HAVE REPLACED.
IF,HOWEVER,YOU ARE DETERMINED FIRST TAKE THE MIRROR OF THE BRACKET BY LOOSENING THE SET SCREW AND SLIDING IT UP.
YOU WILL NEED A PAIR OF PLIERS AND A HEAT SOURCE SUCH AS A LIGHTER,HEAT GUN OR HAIR DRYER.ADJUST THE PLIERS SO THAT THEY WILL GRASP THE BRACKET WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GLASS.YOU WILL HAVE TO WARM UP THE AREA OF THE BRACKET SLOWLY, A SUDDEN APPLICATION OF HEAT IN ONE SMALL AREA MAY CAUSE THE GLASS TO CRACK. AFTER THE BRACKET IS TO HOT TO TOUCH A FEW SECONDS LATER THE HEAT WILL TRANSFER THRU TO THE GLUE SIDE,ABOUT 180 DEGREES IS NEEDED,THEN YOU CAN APPLY A GENTLE TWISTING(NOT PULLING)MOTION AND IT WILL COME OFF.
