I live in the desert. On a good year we get six inches of rain! Do I need to install a solid wood floor over a vapor barrier? Does it matter what time of year I install? Most of the year it is very very dry.
Thanks for the help.

Eric, what type of installation method are you using? What type of subfloor do you have? Got a crawl space? How big? How's the grade of your lot? Ever get water under your house? What species of wood are you using?

Eric, look at it this way. A vapor barrier will add about 5 cents per square foot to your costs. Just do it.
