My mother-in-law's 50 year old house has hardwood floors in all but kitchen and bathroom. The floors have been covered with carpet over 30 years. Mother-in-law now in assisted living, house in very rural area, realtor says hardwood floor adds no value in that market.
Wife and I want hardwood in our house. Any advantage to removing/reinstalling from mother's house, or better for us to buy new?

I think you are getting into a lot of work and will have very little benefit to show from it. Taking up a hardwood floor without damaging it is very ambitious. Hardwood is nailed on an angle and it has lots of nails. If it were mine, I would leave the old floor as is and purchase one for my house.
