We had a blockage in our septic system that caused a back-up and overflowed onto the carpet in our basement (liquit only - mostly washing machine water and a few toilet flushes). Everything is dry now, however, ther is an odor in the carpet. How can the smell be removed without having to remove the carpet? I am able to lift the half of the carpet that got wet if that will help.
Thanks :(

What you have is a carpet laden with the most harmful bacterial know to man. Rip it out and replace. Your insurance company should be able to help with the replacement costs.

P.S. This is nothing to fool with.
