What are the best products to use to clean carpet? And then restore the sheen it had prior to cleaning?

Trying to clean carpets yourself and have them come out like new is almost impossible. I've been in the carpet cleaning business for more than 10 years and have seen the dissasters created by do-it-yourselfers.
Carpet cleaning machines that available for rent aren't ususlly maintained very well. they also lack the power of the machines used by the pros. Also, the chemicals supplied by the rental places aren't as good as the ones the pros use.
Get the idea that you'd be better off calling in the pros. A once a year cleaning by a professional carpet cleaning company will keep your carpets looking and smelling better. This coupled with regular vacuuming is the best thing you can do for your carpets.
