When I come home at night and turn my TV set on it takes more than an hour for the picture to come on and yet I can get sound straight away. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and/or how I can fix it??

What is it? How old is it? Over ten years old unless you just love the set, dig a hole my friend. If it's newer we can go from here.

One other question to follow Big Mike's:

When the set does finally come on, does the picture just suddenly pop on or does it come on slowly?

Hey smokey!
My television is doing the same thing... but not to a T.
I can turn my television on... and sometimes... it comes right on.
When ever i do.. the sound always works, but picture doesn't always come on.
I can leave the television on.. with the sound playing.. and walla. Picture.
It will just suddenly pop on. Sometimes takes hours. Others... seconds.
I pulled the back of the T.V. off and look around. Not really noticing anything.
There are two clicks. One when i turn the television on, and about 2-3 seconds there is a second click. I think it has always done this.. but i tracked the clicking noise down to a little blue box (retangular) right after the power cord goes into the t.v. Maybe be nothing.. i don't know.
what do you think?

Hey Smokey
Mine does the same thing. Got a RCA VICTOR MODEL 21-D-645.
Won't come on for days at a time.
Took the back off and could not see anything coming out of the 6BQ7A.
When it does come on I see a very faint picture. I always have sound.
What in dear God could it be??
Oh by the way when the picture does come on it comes on very slowly.
