Was going to use the dehumidifier mode on my window unit in the garage. My 14,000 BTU Samsung unit just hummed when turned on. I was wondering if there is some sort of temp sensor that will not allow the unit to come on when near freezing temps are outside? Or could I have some frozen ice around the fan? It has been cold/snowy/freezing rain in my area. The unit is only a year old.....Any ideas what the issue could be?

I don't know what the humming sound may have been but window bangers don't work in dehumidification mode under about 70 degrees inside temperature.
And yes, you could have snow or ice blocking the condenser fan and keeping it from turning.

I had time to pull out the unit today..............Fan was stuck but with a manual turn it freed up. Felt like it was frozen. All is ok with it now.
