My house cleaner has, contrary to my instructions and the manufacturer's instructions, used a chemical oven cleaner on my self-cleaning oven. Does this mean that I can no longer use the self-cleaning feature?

Hi:Maureen
Yes. It is quite possible the oven interior finish can be damaged when a chemical cleaner is used.
I have known others who also have a true self cleaning oven <the type you lock the oven door when turning on the cleaning cycle> that where able to maintain the finish.
I believe the trick is to thoughly rinse all the interior parts of that chemical before the oven is used. If you haven't already used it since it was cleaned, try it.
Another possible avenue to explore is contacting the manufacturers customer service help line and inquire what they recommend you do.
Be sure to clean the thermostat temperature sensor also. <It's the tubular element hanging in the oven compartment> That oven cleaner is corrosive and will pitt the element, causing thermostat problems.
Good Luck,
