My dryer needs help.
The element that ignites the gas is
not heating. Is there a switch at the
gas valve that sends current to it?
Where do I start?
Thanks,
Dave

check the door switch on the dryer..using a ohmsmeter..should have countinuity when dryer door is closed..if that's good..then you need to replace glow element!

Hi:dave martin
If the dryer turns on and the drum revolves, the door switch is fine. Before you begin any repair or call for service, be positive ALL the controls are set correctly.
If all controls are set correctly, then the most likely problem is a burned out glow coil. It will need to be removed and replaced.
HINT: If you purchase one, they are NOT a refundable item. If it doesn't solve the problem after you install it, do not remove it, you now have at least a new coil installed.
TIP: Use caution removing and install any glow coil. They are costly and extremely fragile. One bump or hit and it breaks!
After you install a new glow coil and the dryer still doesn't work...it's NOT the glow coil.
You will then have to replace the two solenoids that are on top of the gas valve.
<<<These are the two items with the quick disconnect wires attached to them.>>>
Once again remove the gas valve, remove the top hold down plate and left off the solenoids. <Notice which one goes where.> Then install the two new ones exactly as you found the others.
Reinstall the gas valve, turn on the gas and SOAP the gas valve's inlet connection you removed to take the valve out.
Test the dryers operation. If the dryer doesn't work, you need a service call but if it does, it's a job well done. Have a beer and relax.
