I am researching painting ceramic tile and got several very different answers today while shopping. Would the following be a good way to paint: regrout and repair tile, clean with TSP cleaners, prime with a "gripper" latex primer and paint with one part epoxy paint? Thanks for any tips!

Hi again Amy;

I don't ever recommend painting ceramic tile. (although I am Biased) Chances are even if you spent all that time cleaning and priming and painting, even with epoxy paint there are some places that it would wear off anyway and then you would have an ugly mess.
If you are doing this painting on the floor I will GUARANTEE! it will wear off in the traffic areas. By the time you spend all that time and cash on painting it probably would not be that much more expensive,(if at all)(epoxy paint is expensive stuff)to re-tile directly over your existing tile.
If you need some help tiling over existing tile come back and we can help!

Good Luck (NO TILE PAINTING! LOL)

I had some Mexican tile on the walls around my bathroom vanity and didn't like the color or pattern, but I didn't want to completely remodel my bathroom. I painted the tile with two coats of heavy duty primer, then painted with a semi-gloss latex paint. It looks great. Not as good as a remodeled bathroom, but a totally new look for an inexpensive price. I did this 6 months ago, and so far everything looks great.
