View Full Version : Ceramic Tile and Grout

I have just about finished having my master bathroom remodeled. I had my maid clean off all of the tile and sheet rock dust. While she was cleaning she noticed that the grout - in particular the wall grout seems to be sandy to the touch. I took my finger and ran it along the grout on the wall tiles and I can actually feel and see the sand left on my finger afterwards. Is this normal? The grout was set over 7 days ago. Does it need to be sealed?
Thanks
Jill

Hi Jill,

Could be a problem. Sounds as though you have something other than wall tiles on the walls, since sanded grout was used. Brush the sand away and then see if you can loosen any more. Use a stick or something plastic. If more sand comes loose, you've got a problem. Sealer won't fix it. The grout will have to be removed and new grout installed. Sanded grout that is properly done becomes rock hard in a few days.
