We are trying to find a metal drapery rod that will hold panels over a 176" window. I have searched all over the web and need some help locating extra long drapery rods. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forum! A metal drapery rod that long would have to be special ordered. You can probably order it through a drapery workroom or designer or perhaps a design center. I think Home Depot offers custom rods too.
Another option is to go to Home Depot and buy some metal piping such as metal conduit piping (inexpensive) or copper piping (expensive) or you could use pvc pipe. Of course you'd have to cut it down to size and paint it (whichever you use). If you used the conduit or pvc, you can stick a wooden dowel inside to sturdy it.
If you want to add finials to the ends, just stick a piece of wooden block in the ends to screw the finials into.

There are adjustable traverse rods that will go to 176". The Kirsch superfine rod (3028) goes from 100 to 180". By metal rod, you are probably looking for wrought iron or something similar. A couple of 8' poles with a splice from the Kirsch wrought iron collection would work. If you are looking for aluminum track that's functional with ball bearing carriers, you might want to check out NoAds.com There's also a functional wood pole track system there, but it's not cheap and shipping would be expensive, because it would be difficult to splice and ship UPS.
