I need help choosing a tankless hot water heater. Im pretty sure im going to go electric. But if someone can suggest both an electric and gas HWH that would be great.

My home is only a 2 bedroom home (900sq.ft.). Where the heater would be mounted the longest run to a source would be 10 ft. Bathroom is adjacent to the sink and the washer is in the basement under the kitchen. I have a bathroom sink, a kitchen sink, a shower and a washing machine. The kitchen sink and the shower run simultaneously quite often, that would be worse case scenario.

Any other information you need to know let me know.

I am not familiar with whole house electric tankless units that are cost effective to operate. I haven't done any research on the subject since I bought my LNG unit 4 years ago but I know at that time whole house electric units were ridiculously energy inefficient.

If I had to buy a new one I would go Rinnai I think because they are the industry leader and have some pretty high yield units. I installed a Bosch Aquastar and it struggles to keep up with 2 showers at once. I live alone it's not an issue for me but I know Rinnai units can treat up to 7 GPM.

Electric: If your main breaker is ls less then 200a you would probably be looking at $2000-$4000 for a new electric service plus the cost of install of the water heater. Where I am it stays warm enough a 60 amp will be adequate for a one person house but up in colder country you are looking at 120a just for the water heater. If you have heavy electric use such as a stove and electric heat even a 200a main may not be enough.

Gas: if your replacing an old gas water heater the old gas line may need replacing with a larger size. The existing vent will have to be replaced with expensive high temperature venting. Some say gas is less efficient because of heat that is lost out of the vent. On the flip side gas costs less then electric in many areas.

Hello, I have a Bosch AE-125 electric tankless hot water heater. I have a family of 5 ( 3 children). I bought the Bosch unit over -3- years ago, I switched out from oil hot water. I have a 200 amp service that I put a 120 amp sub panel for the hot water heater.

I'm saving money !!!

The transation wasn't smooth, we have a well and the pressure varies this can cause some problems. However 6:00 A.M. two showers running no problem.

I have no experience with gas tankless hot water heater so I can't comment.

My biggest concern is if there is a problem thats not obvious I'll have to replace the unit because no one services these things.

good luck
