Solid Hardwood, Engineered and Laminate Flooring - Direction to Lay Laminate Flooring

I keep reading conflicting information about the direction in which to lie laminate flooring. Some places say to lay it in the direction of sunlight, and some say to ensure that the boards are parallel to the length of the hallway. Here's the layout of my house:

The gray portion is where the new flooring is being layed out.

If I were to lay it in the direction of sunlight it would run vertically since my sliding glass door is at the north portion of my house. If I were to lay it in the length of the hallway it would run horizontally for the main portion of the hallway & vertically & diagonally for the smaller portions of the hallway.

I can always place transitions and change the direction, but I've read that it's not good to do that either. Are there any suggestions on what I should do with my confusing hallway?

When in doubt, I always fall back to running it perpendicular to the floor joists.

I do that.... but I'm laying it on concrete.... so there are no floor joists.
