In July we had abasement flood due to a malfunction in the water heater while we were away on vacation. The water level was about 56 inches or 4.5 ft. The professional water damage people tore out all the walls ( Dry Wall ) and the false ceiling and threw it out. Also we lost a lot of stuff - but that is another question. Now I am ready to put up the drywall and the ceiling and paint it. The perimeter walls are all cinder block previously painted with DRYLOCK and the water damage people said that they had sprayed some sort of mildew resistantspray and cleaned. Now my question is should I treat the walls and the old and new drywall ( The drywall was only removed till 5 ft from the ground level ) with some sort of mildew resistant/fungicide or any chemical before painting and if so what is the best substance to use for this. Finally I will be painting the perimeter again with drylock and the walls with latex paint. Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I live in the Northeast in Connecticut just for information.

Presumably, all the water has long been removed. The water damage was caused by the flooding, so you should not need to do anything beyond an ordinary installation.

Hi RK, if things just got wet and were dried out quickly, then you should be ok. If it took a few days and some mold showed up, then I would be concerned about the rest of the sheetrock and I presume insulation, especially if it is fiberglass. If mold had started, you need to start over rather than just patch below.
I know that is not what you want to hear, but this is the best time to get it right.
