Newbie here, i hope i can type this so you can understand whats going on, lets start. I had a friend come over who installed firefox 4.54 for a browser in my XP service pk 2 system,
he also put in Thunderbird. My default e mail provider was RoadRunner web mail, but after he made the changes the past messages just disappeared from what i was always using, the sent folder had everything i sent. I called there tech service and they asked if i had another e mail system running (i didn't know)
but after 4 days i found Thunderbird was my default e mail, i can get the messages from Thunderbird, but want it the way it use to be. I still can't find a way to turn Thunderbird off, i think that's the answer, dos any one know how to not make it the default e mail provider?
Thanks

Is Road Runner a program installed on your computer? I'm not familiar with it, but I would think it is. Look for it and try double-clicking on it. You might get a message telling you that it's not the default email and would you like it to be, so just answer "yes".
If you don't get the message, right-click on it and pick the "always open with this" option.
You can always remove Thunderbird thru the Add/Remove Programs.
You can tell your friend about it and let them fix it.

Roadrunner is your internet service, like what the cable company provides? So you were using a web based mail system..like Gmail..AOL Mail..etc. Its not actually a program..its a web page.
The browsers use whatever the OS is set to usually or when the browser is installed it may ask...but here are the instructions for FF. I think this really only applies to a program INSTALLED on the PC...not a web mail.

Well, duh! :D :wall:
Then can't you go the rr site and just access your mail there?
I have Verizon and I can either access my mail by going to Verizon.net or get it thru Windows Mail (my preference).
Seems it would be the same for you, no?

Yea RoadRunner is my internet provider, by my cable co. They were offering high speed internet, digital phone, and a converter box for the tv for a cheap rate for 1 year, so i took it. I don't know much about computers, so i don't make any changes to things, because i feel if i change something, it may change something else.
Another thing, i had yahoo & g mail before and everything worked ok, (still have them) but to me the trouble started with Thunderbird.
Thanks for your help
