On a service call today to check a pump, I ran across someone cleaning there septic tank out.
Yes, there is someone in the tank, with a small shovel and a bucket.
The liquid was pump out, but there was still about 15" to 18"of sludge in the tank
This is the most dumbest, and dangerous thing I have seen in a long time.

I would say post pics or it didn't happen. Well you posted the pic, I see the pic and I still can't believe it happened. What in the hell would make anyone think that is a good idea?

let me guess;
the sludge was getting tossed in a field or ????
It's not just the deadly part of the deal, I just can't see anybody willingly climbing down into a septic tank. While the dippers don't do it for free, it really is not that expensive. Geesh!!
and why didn't they simply take the lid all the way off?

There are so many questions that were going to my mind, I just didn't know where to start.
Just the site of what I was seeing was ????, Words just escape me.
As to why they were doing any of the stupid, dangerous, and down rite nasty stuff you see in the picture, Your guess is as good as mine.
Paying someone to clean the tank, the correct, safe, and legal way, can't be nearly as high, as the cost of a life.

any chance they were drug dealers and were hunting for their stash they flushed down the toilet when the cops came?
I just cannot fathom doing what they are doing.

That HAS to be the reason. No sane person would do that to save the $300 bucks it costs. it HAD to be an addict who flushed his stash or something else and is looking for it.

Maybe he was hoping to get on the Dirty Jobs TV show, or more likely World's Dumbest.
