I am looking in a used snowblower from 5 to 7 hp and 22 to 26" width. I typically get 6 inches of wet snow, but we have storms up to 12". The brands I am looking at are Simplicity 555, Ariens 524, and Toro 521 . I haven't listed all the models for each make, but some look to be 10 to 15 years old but in good shape. Most have better overall build quality better than typical current consumer machines. Do these older machines perform well, are reliable and still have parts availability? Any particular make/models I should consider or not?

You'll probably get a lot of opinions on this,, But I think you should look @ what you have for dealers in your area.. If you have an Ariens dealer nearby, I'd be tempted to look @ them.. I see a lot of them around this area & they still have parts support for them even as old as 20 years or more... Of course it'll depend on how the unit was looked after before you got it, Good Luck,, Roger
